Traveling To Sydney

After a few days of packing and a last minute scramble to get certified in SCUBA diving I was on the way to the airport. I hooked up with Rich in Los Angeles who flew in from Phoenix. We kicked back for a while and talked about the college days over a few beers.

Almost before leaving the ground we met our first Aussie, Graham Martin, who introduced himself and began telling us what to do and see in the land down under. Australians would turn out to be one of the friendliest people I have ever meet, Graham gave us his home number and said if we had any problems to give him a call. Five movies, two meals, and 14 hours later we landed in Sydney around 7:00am. With a little luck they let us in to the country where we got our luggage and found our driver holding up a sign with our names on it, I feel special.

It was off to the Wentworth hotel downtown. We were surprise not only to find Aussies driving on with wrong side of the road in cars with the steering wheel on the wrong side, but that the escalators were reversed as well.
